Context
A round of primary interviews revealed the need for an online tool that goes beyond generic recommendations, but instead offers unique suggestions tailored to a user’s preferences. Even better if it could craft these experiences into a personalized itinerary for the day and generate a route between locations. In a world brimming with options, locals and travelers want to simplify their quest for the perfect trip or day out.
User Flow
The goal was to design a responsive web app that resonates with every adventurer, daydreamer, and urban explorer looking for their specific activities of choice. App navigation should be simple, and spotlight these core functionalities.
Wireframes
Early concepts focused on crafting a bespoke experience for each user based on their unique interests and preferred activities selected during onboarding. Wireframes explored advanced search and filter functions, map navigation, and itinerary flows.
Design Decisions
Desktop, iPad, and iOS mobile breakpoints were designed to highlight Odyssey's key features: advanced filtering, itinerary building, and map navigation across different use cases. A user might use the app on the go while traveling, or at home as they prepare for a trip.
Final Screens
Retro
User testing presented some challenges on this project. Initial testing was conducted on very low-fidelity wireframes, leading to some unfocused feedback. There were many useful responses, but a few users were definitely confused by the rough sketches. Testing with higher fidelity wireframes would provide users with a more detailed representation of the interface and allow them to give more precise and actionable insights into the app's functionality.
